HOW TO BECOME A PUBLIC ADJUSTER IN ILLINOIS
WHAT DOES A PUBLIC ADJUSTER DO?
A public adjuster is a licensed insurance professional who represents policyholders -- not insurance companies -- in property damage claims. When a homeowner or business suffers damage from storms, fire, water, or other covered events, a public adjuster inspects the damage, interprets the insurance policy, prepares and files the claim, and negotiates with the insurance company to maximize the settlement. Public adjusters earn a percentage of the claim payout, making it a career with no income ceiling.
